Feldenkrais® for Performers
by Anete Colacioppo

The course presents the Feldenkrais Method® as a somatic practice aimed at performing artists, integrating body awareness, movement and creativity. Inspired by the development of the method as it was applied in Berlin's university UDK for decades, the course also includes lessons that Moshe Feldenkrais created especially for Peter Brook's Ensemble. Through experiences of ‘Awareness Through Movement,’ participants explore habitual patterns, expand their self-awareness, and discover new possibilities for expression and stage presence. The method awakens a refined awareness of the body and mind, promoting flexibility, vitality, and creative clarity. The activities propose a sensitive and collaborative research environment, favouring a balance between technique, freedom and authenticity in artistic work.

Anete Colacioppo is an actress with over 30 years of experience. She came into contact with the Feldenkrais® somatic methodology during her master's degree at the Berlin University of the Arts and subsequently deepened her knowledge in a Feldenkrais Guild-accredited training programme (2017–2021) under the pedagogical direction of Jeremy Krauss. Since 2019, she has been teaching ‘Awareness Through Movement’ at venues such as Acker Stadt Palast, of which she is co-founder and artistic director, and since 2023 also at the Volkshochschule in Berlin. Her work combines artistic research and somatic practices and explores new forms of collaborative creation, non-hierarchical structures and processes related to relevant social issues. With a background that combines theatre, education and body awareness, Anete offers participants a learning space that promotes both artistic expression and personal well-being.
